Not only is this place incredibly chic on the inside, but it also has a cute garden and patio in the back! They also serve natural wine and a seasonal menu (I like their wines better than their food which is a bit overpriced.) They’re the sister restaurant of La Parenthese, a French bistro based in Marseille, so you know they’re the real deal. They do have a more expensive happy hour, but their atmosphere is very cute and very French.Įveryday 5 – 7 pm / bar only with cocktails, beer, and wine specials This is a great chill dive bar that’s away from the more rowdy, popular area of West Village.Įveryday 5-7 pm / $13 wines, $14 cocktails, $10 snacks Tucked away in a quieter area of the Village, Automatic Slim’s reminds me of old school New York. ![]() (Note that they also have two locations in West Village - the Hudson Street location has $10 martinis during 3-5 pm whereas their MacDougal location has $10 negronis from 3-5 pm.)Įveryday 5:30-8 pm / drink and food specials This classic spot in the village is seemingly always crowded, no matter the time of day. They also have another location in Montauk (if that gives you an indication of the vibes of this place), and a cute, pink interior as well as outdoor seating. Sel Rrose has great music and vibes, and will always have a crowd going no matter what time you’re visiting. If you play your cards right, you will be hard-pressed to pay more than $2 per oyster while out at a bar. I love a good oyster happy hour, and there’s an abundance of them in NYC. ![]() Also contrary to its name, there are no flowers for sale/to be seen anywhere at the bar unfortunately. The Flower Shop is one of my favorite chill bars to frequent. This bar gets crowded, and has a pool table downstairs. This cute wine bar used to be in midtown east but they have since moved down to LES, where they fit the vibes much better. Given the eclectic neon lit vibes of this place, I felt that I had to check it out. I first discovered this bar from an episode of now controversial Aziz Ansari’s Netflix show Master of None, which takes place in NYC and features several local spots. 1/9/2024 0 Comments Terraria swords in chests![]() There are plenty of dangers between you and this goal, and that’s why I’ve listed the difficulty as medium. You will need to collect a golden key in the Dungeon to open them up. I’ve seen more than one in each of the twelve maps I currently have for gaming purposes. Every map in Terraria has a dungeon, and the chances of finding a Muramasa in one of the chests are pretty high. The Muramasa will be in one of the locked golden chests in the Dungeon.
![]() ![]() So, leaving out some evolutionary bells and whistles that may enhance avian and insect color vision, bees’ eyes are substantially less sensitive toward the red end of the spectrum than our eyes or birds’ eyes. The sensitivity declines with increasing distance from the peak wavelength, so it takes some pretty intense red light to stimulate the yellow receptors of birds and humans. That’s because each type of cone cell can be stimulated by wavelengths near as well as at its peak. Notice that none of these photoreceptors peaks in the red range (~650 nm), yet we humans (and most birds) see red reasonably well. The graphic below is my attempt to visualize the differences in color sensitivity between humans, honeybees, and hummingbirds: Birds go us and bees one better with four types of cones (tetrachromacy) peaking at 370 nm (near-UV), 445 nm (indigo), 508 nm (green), and 565 nm (yellow) ( Goldsmith 2006). Human eyes also contain three types of cone cells, but the peak sensitivities fall around 424 nm (indigo-violet), 530 nm (yellow-green), and 560 nm (yellow). The three sensitivity peaks fall at 340 nm (near-ultraviolet), 430 nm (violet-indigo), and 540 nm (yellow-green). Rodríguez-Gironés and Luis Santamaría, the eyes of most bees, including honeybees, contain three types of color-detecting cone cells (trichromacy), each of which is sensitive to different wavelengths of light in a different band. ![]() According to “ Why Are So Many Bird Flowers Red?” by Miguel A. The story is actually pretty complicated and starts with the different ways that bees, birds, and humans see the world. Why are some feeders with yellow parts ignored by bees? And why do some red feeders attract bees while others don’t? Disappointingly, when I reported these observations to Perky Pet and suggested that the company consider at least offering red replacement flowers, the representative’s only comment was, “Well, our customers like the yellow flowers.” Not their feathered customers, of course, but the ones with the cash.īut some people report no problems with bees on feeders with yellow parts, and others have terrible bee problems on all-red feeders. Eventually we phased out Perky Pet feeders altogether (even in the bookstore), but until then this strategy helped to reduce the preserve’s bee problems. The leftover red flowers we handed out to preserve visitors having bee problems with similar feeders. It was out with the yellow and in with the red on of all the preserve’s Perky Pet feeders. ![]() This continued for a couple of weeks, well beyond the time it should have taken for the bees to learn to associate the red “flowers” with food. Very few remained at the red flowers long enough to discourage hummingbirds from feeding. The results were unambiguous: The bees would fly up to the red side of the feeder, buzz around, maybe land briefly, but soon take off and fly around to the other side to join their hive-mates feeding around the yellow flowers. I immediately grabbed a handful and used them to replace half the yellow flowers on a couple of the problem feeders. A few weeks later a box arrived containing several hundred red plastic flowers. Since the preserve’s bookstore sold hundreds of Perky Pet feeders every year, I called the company to ask if they could make us a few red plastic flowers using the same mold as the yellow ones. And who pollinates those little yellow sunflowers? Bees and other six-leggity beasties, that’s who. ![]() Those five-petaled plastic pinwheels around the feeder ports could stand in for the flowers of any of hundreds of species in the sunflower family. A little reading confirmed that yellow is a color ecologists associate with flowers that are insect pollinated ( entomophilous, “insect-loving,” as opposed to ornithophilous, “bird-loving”). The preserve was having a lot of trouble with bees, mostly long-tongued bumblebees and carpenter bees, on some of its twenty-odd feeders, mostly the Perky Pet 210-P and similar models with yellow plastic “flowers” around the ports.Īs I read everything I could find about hummingbirds, including pollination ecology, it dawned on me that very few hummingbird-pollinated flowers are yellow and very few bee-pollinated flowers are red. I first began to ponder this issue twenty years ago, when I was co-manager of The Nature Conservancy’s Ramsey Canyon Preserve. Most hummingbird feeders are based on similar visual cues, but what if your feeder sent mixed signals that unintentionally lured less welcome critters as well as hummingbirds? Essentially, you’re thinking like a hummingbird, associating trumpet-shaped blossoms in “hot” colors with the promise of a sweet reward. If you’re a hummingbird gardener, you’ve probably developed a search image that helps you select flowers most likely to please your discriminating clientele. Oh and yes, records show as fields in the bq gui, but if you have data like that I would definitely nest repeatable fields as record (if they are) if you can. If it ran in data flow you could write these out to an invalid table gcs bucket. For example: JSON 9.8 If the JSON value is not a number, an error is produced. An easy way was to sum the genre fields and use that as the field to group by but the genre fields had to be converted from TRUE to 1 and FALSE to 0. Description Converts a JSON number to a SQL FLOAT64 value. Will still break your pipeline if data types change though. Use Case 2: Converting String Values to Numeric I wanted to see the count of movies by the number of genres each movie was assigned to. (You need a Google BigQuery account to access this data set.) The schema says that most of the columns are numeric. You could also run it over every load in which case updating your schema with additions. Oh there are a few libraries out there to generate schemas from json, you could also try one of those but youd have to run it over a lot of data to be confident. Bigtable might seem ideal but most people prefer more transformations in order to use bigquery. Like you mentioned though, theres going to be some work beforehand to define the data you need. It also should allow you to run data again against the source json table, assuming you store each batch of jsons as a different partition. ![]() Note that if fields change, this can be a pain and data types changing will still break it. This approach should mean you can change the schema afterwards to include more fields as necessary. In that case I'd dump each json into a field into table 1 and another job to json extract scalar or json extract from there into the fields of 2nd table. A schema which best reflects the data you need. I think you can either load the data into bigtable instead or you'll have to create a 'super' schema. I'm sorry I dont know what x is in this case.Īlternatively ingest everything as string as a load then a processing step to convert. A group of bulls wont help it determine the schema. Personally if you know the schema it's better to pass in a schema json file anyway.Īlternatively if you have control over source (which means youd know the schema anyway), you could ensure the first x rows contain rows that reflect you data type, for example letters in a field if it's a string, numbers if it's an integer, etc. Standard SQL supports the CAST function with the FLOAT64 data type, e.g.: SELECT CAST (author.timesec as FLOAT64) FROM LIMIT 1000 Share. ![]() You can specify a schema instead of it auto detecting, also I think you can avoid specifying a schema if the table is already created. The problem with autodetect for schemas in data is that it typically does it on x rows, not the full dataset, so unless your data types can be correctly evaluated in the first say, 100 rows, you're going to have potential problems. Im assuming you're loading data because you dont say. ![]() ![]() ![]() Option 2: Check the box for Show volume in the menu bar to bring up the speaker icon on the menu bar.Option 1: Adjust the volume on the Output Volume slider.Step 3: Here, users can choose from two ways to adjust the volume: Users continue to select Output and find the connected AirPods Users open System Preferences on the menu bar and select Soundīước 2: Select Output > Find and select the AirPods that are connected.
